While campaigning at a tavern in New Hampshire recently, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took part in a town hall event in conjunction with the Huffington Post series \u201c\u201916 and President.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n Christie\u2019s comments about the way we approach drug addiction in the United States went viral and, after watching it myself, I can see why.<\/p>\n Christie grounds his answer in his personal experiences, including his mother\u2019s addiction to nicotine and a friend\u2019s addiction to painkillers. In addition, Christie invoked his pro life beliefs, saying:<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m pro-life. And I think that if you\u2019re pro-life, that means you\u2019ve got to be pro-life for the whole life, not just for the nine months they\u2019re in the womb. It\u2019s easy to be pro-life for the nine months they\u2019re in the womb; they haven\u2019t done anything to disappoint us yet. They\u2019re perfect in there. But when they get out, that\u2019s when it gets tough. The 16-year-old teenage girl on the floor of the county lockup, addicted to heroin, I\u2019m pro-life for her, too. Her life is just as much a precious gift from God as the one in the womb.
