As regards The Da Vinci Code<\/em>, a Christian friend shrugged to me recently, \u201cJesus doesn\u2019t need us to defend Him.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been thinking about it ever since. <\/p>\n

Of course, God doesn\u2019t need us. He didn\u2019t need to make us. He didn\u2019t need to die for us. He doesn\u2019t need us to be with Him forever in heaven. He doesn\u2019t need us to protect Him. Jesus is safe from Dan Brown and Sony Pictures.<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t we get something from defending Jesus? It\u2019s not that He needs to glorify His Name, but somehow, we do.<\/p>\n

So, in this case, we have a movie that defames the holy name of Jesus. It says He was a sham. He wasn\u2019t God. His name is not Emmanuel. It isn\u2019t Prince of Peace. It isn\u2019t Lord of Lords or King of Kings. The Jesus of Da Vinci Code<\/em>\u2018s name is something between Mr. Mary Magdalen and Mr. Pawn of Satan. <\/p>\n

(After all, Sony Picture\u2019s Jesus is a pathetic tool in whose name \u2013 what was it? \u2013 oh yeah, 5,000,000 women have been killed by jealous Christian men\u2026.just to name one of the countless crimes the Bible was manufactured to authorize.)<\/p>\n

So, for all of us who have sung thousands of times \u2013 \u201cGlory to the name of Jesus!\u201d \u201cWorthy is the Name!\u201d \u201cLord, I lift Your name on high!\u201d \u2013 what do we do here?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m just wondering. <\/p>\n

And how does buying a ticket to a movie that blasphemes the name of Jesus fit in with lifting His Name on high?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m thinking we have to add to our Othercott plans for the weekend of May 19th. Yes, we all go to another movie that weekend \u2013 Over the Hedge<\/em>. But then, I think we all spend the remaining thirty-six hours of DVC\u2019s<\/em> opening weekend in prayer . How cool would it be if parishes resurrected the Forty Hour devotion to counter the evil effects that the blasphemy in DVC<\/em> will do in so many souls.<\/p>\n
