Claremont Lincoln University<\/a> continues to gain national recognition for its innovative and controversial approach to religious education.\u00a0 The school was recently featured in a video on \u201cmulti-faith religious education\u201d at Religion and Ethics Newsweekly, which includes footage of this year\u2019s convocation ceremony, as well as interviews with students and faculty.\u00a0 In the short film (embedded below), CLU provost Philip Clayton<\/a> explains the vision for the new school:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you train rabbis in one school, pastors in another, imams in another, you put them out into communities they create an \u2018us versus them\u2019 mentality. What if we do something that\u2019s never been done before? Let\u2019s train them in the same classroom. Let\u2019s let them work out their differences in their day-to-day education. When they go out into their communities you won\u2019t find them doing the \u2018us versus them,\u2019 but, we hope, the \u2018we.\u2019 What that would for the face of religion in America would be staggering.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
