When you embark on the interior life, you\u2019ll find that feelings come with it. Sometimes you\u2019ll feel that God is so close you can practically touch him. Sometimes (alas) you\u2019ll feel so bored you\u2019d rather do anything else\u2014almost. Sometimes even more than almost.<\/p>\n
The thing is, the interior life isn\u2019t about feelings; it\u2019s about an objective relationship with Jesus Christ. It\u2019s about knowing Christ and loving Christ, which is to say it\u2019s a matter of the intellect and of the will. It\u2019s about choosing to pursue a relationship with Jesus even when you don\u2019t feel like it. It\u2019s about choosing to love Jesus more than the (admittedly delightful) feelings of unity and closeness that He sends us.<\/p>\n
