Glen Campbell died today<\/a>. \u00a0 \u00a0One of the earliest memories I have is watching him perform on some variety show. \u00a0It was on our old console television set that was about as big as our sofa. \u00a0We lived out in the country then, and moved in town shortly after I turned five. \u00a0That must mean I was around four, and it would have been c. 1971 give or take.<\/p>\nCampbell was one of those individuals who formed the backdrop of my life. \u00a0He was always there. \u00a0His name rolled off as easy as The Beatles or Star Wars. \u00a0His signature song, Rhinestone Cowboy<\/em>, was released when I was around eight or nine. \u00a0It was one of those songs everyone sang, whether correctly or not.<\/p>\nOver the years, he was always just there. \u00a0A part of my collective memories. \u00a0 When he announced he had Alzheimer\u2019s, I was sad. \u00a0My Dad had the same, and it\u2019s everything it\u2019s cracked up to be.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, the memories for me remain. \u00a0God grant his family peace and strength through the upcoming years. \u00a0And eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
