One of the things I like about Mr. Wright is that he is not afraid to like the Western Tradition<\/a>.\u00a0 He actually seems, at times, to appreciate it, even if in this case he is being more whimsical than serious.\u00a0 Hating on the Dying West is all the rage of course.\u00a0 One does not mention Western Civilization, or its bastard child The United States, without mentioning slavery, racism, imperialism, genocide, religious wars, crusades, inquisitions, witch burnings and world wars.\u00a0 To the left of center, that is the Western legacy.\u00a0 All too many who reject the liberal interpretation seem, under the pressure of the onslaught, to\u00a0concede the points.\u00a0 But you have those who are willing to say \u2018wait a minute.\u2019\u00a0 Like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, they believe that for all of its sins \u2013 and there were sins aplenty, like any civilization \u2013 there is something unique\u00a0in the West\u2019s heritage that will not be duplicated if world power is handed to other traditions and cultural lineages.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Bonus points for using the word Christendom<\/em> in a positive way.\u00a0 For a growing number of folks, non-liberal Christians included, the term has come to be as endearing as the NRA or the KKK is in modern discourse.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
