The latest media bigoted assault on Christianity has made quite a stir. \u00a0Not because it\u2019s the usual \u2018Christianity is a stupid and evil lie\u2019 meme that we get every Easter and Christmas. \u00a0But because the propaganda hit piece, by\u00a0Kurt Eichenwald, is so wonderfully bad. \u00a0On so many levels. \u00a0I don\u2019t have time to unpack the dumb. \u00a0It\u2019s just the sort of thing post-modern skeptics and secularists seem to love: factually wrong but with lots of hate and anger against improperly understood religions that they hate to begin with. \u00a0<\/div>\n

The best example (and it was hard to narrow it down), was his treatment of the woman caught in adultery in John 8. Like Bart Erhman knows, every Bible published mentions that the earliest manuscripts don\u2019t contain this. \u00a0It\u2019s no big deal. \u00a0Nobody believes the Bible was typed by God on a cloud and dropped into our laps in the King\u2019s English. \u00a0And that\u2019s just informed Protestants. \u00a0Catholics and Orthodox by definition wouldn\u2019t see it that way. \u00a0Apparently that\u2019s one of a million things about the subject that\u00a0Kurt Eichenwald is ignorant of.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Anyway, Eichenwald says this: \u201cJohn didn\u2019t write it. \u00a0Scribes made it up sometime in the Middle Ages. \u00a0It does not appear in any of the three other Gospels or in any of the early Greek versions of John.\u201d\u00a0<\/div>\n

Did you read that? \u00a0Bwa ha ha ha! \u00a0Define early manuscript there Kurt old buddy, old pal. \u00a0Especially since the story if found in manuscripts as early as the 5th to 6th century. \u00a0For that matter, define Middle Ages. \u00a0And what of it not being in the other three? \u00a0How many passages in one Gospel aren\u2019t in the others? \u00a0I mean, this is embarrassing, and anyone except for the usual group of atheists and other anti-Christians who leap up to defend it, should run as far from this as possible.\u00a0<\/div>\n

But enough of me. \u00a0Here is an absolutely devastating rebuttal<\/a> to the errors, falsehoods, stupidity, bigotry, arrogance, hypocrisy, and unintentional hilarity of this latest contribution to that publication that used to be known as credible. \u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n
