Boy what a game. \u00a0I know, I know. \u00a0Next game\u2019s the beast, and it\u2019s hungry. \u00a0After destroying overrated Florida State, Oregon is sharpening it\u2019s claws (or bills) and ready. \u00a0But then, so was Michigan State. \u00a0So was Wisconsin. And of course, so was Alabama. \u00a0Why, when Oregon obliterated Florida State earlier, almost all of the talk went to the inevitable Oregon to Alabama match-up. <\/p>\n

But somewhere, somehow, the Buckeyes didn\u2019t get the message. \u00a0Oh sure, it started out that way. \u00a0Jones, in only his second start, having never started as quarterback in a non-championship game, looked nervous. \u00a0The whole team did. \u00a0Nobody imagined OSU would win. \u00a0Most of the discussion was over just how flawed the system was to let the Buckeyes in the top four in the first place.<\/p>\n

By the end of the first quarter, it was 21 to 6. \u00a0Two turnovers. \u00a0Two field goals. \u00a0The number one team with a host of records and bests in the lineup. \u00a0It looked like the Oregon massacre was going to be repeated. <\/p>\n

Then something happened. \u00a0After clawing and scratching and kicking and biting our way to the goal, we actually scored against the nation\u2019s best goal line defense. \u00a0Then things turned around. \u00a0Suddenly we were scoring. \u00a0By half time we were only one point behind.<\/p>\n

In the second half, we made two more touchdowns and held Alabama stopped. \u00a0Then, for almost the entire second half, we were plugged into our own five yard line, unable to move, unable to even make a first down. \u00a0We went until past the halfway mark of the fourth quarter with negative yards unable to even break a first down. <\/p>\n

And yet strangely, Alabama was still behind. \u00a0If it looked horrible to us, it must have been a nightmare to Alabama fans. \u00a0How could they not be beating a team that couldn\u2019t even make a first down for most of the second half? \u00a0And yet, somehow, when it was over and the last play ended in an interception by Ohio State, it happened. <\/p>\n

Yes, the next match will be ugly. \u00a0Heisman trophy winner. \u00a0Top team. \u00a0A beast. \u00a0And yet, somehow, the Buckeyes may even make a match of it. \u00a0If we don\u2019t, it was still one of the best seasons I\u2019ve ever seen, and one of the best reasons for loving football. \u00a0It\u2019s all about overcoming adversity. \u00a0But who knows? \u00a0We\u2019ll have to wait and see. \u00a0Until then, well done Buckeyes. \u00a0You\u2019ve more than earned your keep.<\/p>\n

Oh, and you can\u2019t help rubbing it in the face of the SEC, since the first championship system seems to undo the last decade of SEC dominance. \u00a0Heh. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
