I love stories like this<\/a>. You can just feel the unspoken references to Orwell, Big Brother, Fascism, and all those other tropes from the old days of liberalism, when we were promised an open society of free thought and respecting diverse opinions.<\/p>\n

Of course this is the same culture that feels no compunction about trying to punish <\/a>and ostracize <\/a>anyone who fails to conform to liberal values regarding the same subject. \u00a0And it\u2019s not just the secular Left.<\/p>\n

During our journey into the Catholic Church, I knew many ministers from more liberal denominations. \u00a0Many of their congregations declared themselves \u2018welcoming and affirming.\u2019 \u00a0That is, pro-gay. \u00a0Fair enough. \u00a0As crazy as those hazy days were, I actually considered some of those as possible avenues. After all, I wasn\u2019t sold on Catholicism just yet, and wanted to keep my ministry alive, and certainly had grown tired of some of the extremes of conservative evangelicalism I experienced.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing. \u00a0By welcoming and affirming they meant pro-gay. \u00a0Just like so many euphemisms used on the Left, it didn\u2019t mean what it suggested. \u00a0They weren\u2019t welcoming and affirming at all. \u00a0And if I wasn\u2019t going to celebrate marriage equality and other euphemistic doctrines, then there was the door.<\/p>\n

So while stories like this are meant to get people to think \u2018gee, that\u2019s like intolerant, isn\u2019t it?\u2019 \u00a0Just try watching the news sometime, and see the same treatment go the other way from those who want to suggest intolerance is a one way street.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
