just doesn\u2019t care if he lied<\/a>?\u00a0 The answer would be\u00a0known as PC.\u00a0 Political Correctness that is.\u00a0 You see, Political Correctness is basically enforced dishonesty.\u00a0 It\u2019s either saying you can\u2019t do or say something even if you believe it, or it\u2019s saying that you must\u00a0\u00a0say something is true even if it isn\u2019t (or vice versa).\u00a0 <\/p>\nCase in point, the Common Era.\u00a0 Otherwise seen as C.E. or B.C.E.\u00a0 That is replacement for B.C. and A.D. for reckoning the years.\u00a0\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t necessarily the result of PC censorship.\u00a0 Though some point to European usage as far back as the 18th century, it had its origins as we use it\u00a0most prominently among Jewish scholars who refused to use a designation pointing to any lordship of Jesus.\u00a0 By the 20th century, it was still a minority usage.\u00a0\u00a0Even my\u00a0secular\u00a0textbooks published as recently as the mid-80s used the\u00a0BC\/AD designation.<\/p>\n
But somewhere, between the mid-80s and now, during the dark years of the anti-Christian West movement of Multi-culturalism and the rise of the PC, the designations became embraced, and eventually mandated.\u00a0 Now it\u2019s everywhere.\u00a0 Just about\u00a0any scholarly work\u00a0published now, including some by Christian authors and publications, uses CE\/BCE.\u00a0 In school, my boys were told in their World History class to use that, rather than BC\/AD,\u00a0citing possible offenses at those more exclusive\u00a0and antiquated terms (and using the ever popular \u201cbecause of the troubled history, it can cause stress to some people today\u201d).<\/p>\n
The problem?\u00a0 According to any academic publication, government publication, or anything else, it is now 2013 C.E.\u00a0 What does that mean?\u00a0 It means 2013 of the Common Era.\u00a0 What makes it common? Well, I don\u2019t know.\u00a0\u00a0Through some happy coincidence, it is a common year that just happens to mirror the same roll of years that point back to He Whose Name Cannot Be Mentioned.\u00a0 So not too long ago, it would be 2013 A.D.\u00a0 That\u2019s Anno Domini.\u00a0 That means the\u00a02013th year of Our Lord.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
I know, I know.\u00a0 Jesus wasn\u2019t born in\u00a0the year one.\u00a0 But we all know what the reference point is.\u00a0 At least those of us over the age\u00a0of\u00a025.\u00a0 Younger folks might be shocked to find out.\u00a0 But we adults know to what the\u00a0year number 2013 is supposed to point.\u00a0 Yet we just can\u2019t say it.\u00a0 It\u2019s deceptive.\u00a0 It\u2019s dishonest.\u00a0 It\u2019s enforced\u00a0thought control.\u00a0 It\u2019s saying \u2018we don\u2019t care if it points back to the date Jesus was once believed to have been born, you can\u2019t say it.\u00a0 You\u00a0must say that<\/em> in\u00a0instead.\u2019\u00a0 <\/p>\nGrowing up, we were told that\u2019s what the totalitarian states of the 20th century did.\u00a0 That\u2019s what the Communists did.\u00a0 They demanded that you call a square round, whether it was true or not.\u00a0 Not only because a non-round\u00a0\u00a0square or the birth of Jesus might be inconvenient.\u00a0 But like the military or football, you start with the basics.\u00a0 You start with the fundamentals.\u00a0 If through sheer threat of possible intimidation, much less outright persecution, you can convince even believers that they must adopt the less than honest and forthright designation \u20182013 of some vague common reckoning even though we know what it points to\u2019, then you can get them to accept other less than honest or up front \u201ctruths\u201d.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Get a generation to accept that we have to call squares round whether it\u2019s true or not, and you\u2019ll get a generation willing to accept anything, whether it\u2019s true or not.\u00a0 It\u2019s not lying.\u00a0 It\u2019s not even false.\u00a0 It is a Common Era because that\u2019s what everyone calls it now.\u00a0 But it still points to that event that cannot be named, and does so almost proudly.\u00a0 If they picked a different starting point, like the year 371 AN (After Newton), then at least that would be honest.\u00a0 We would have surrendered and accepted some other designation.\u00a0 But that\u2019s not what happened.\u00a0 It kept the historical reference point \u2013 the birth of Jesus Christ \u2013 but simply demanded we call the year something else.<\/p>\n
No big loss.\u00a0 No big defeat.\u00a0 Heck, Catholics and Protestants now use CE\/BCE.\u00a0 But like many wars before, it is the first skirmish, the\u00a0 first nudge away from being honest and standing on up front honesty that has led us to this point.\u00a0 A point where our president can lie to overturn American society, ruin the lives of millions, be shown to have lied, and yet in the end of the day, it\u2019s no more than a parlor discussion, if it\u2019s even that.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
It\u2019s more than lying.\u00a0 Lying is a sin they say.\u00a0 But it\u2019s also honesty.\u00a0 To not lie but accept and promote untruths is a willingness to accept deceit and falsehood as the MO of society.\u00a0 It\u2019s better than lying in the way\u00a0Gulags are better than Extermination camps.\u00a0Once that happens, expect a lot more of what we\u2019ve seen here.\u00a0 A country where truth will be the last thing demanded, expected, or much less offered. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
