That\u2019s an atheist, FWIW. \u00a0But the arguments are just as common in liberal churches and denominations across the world. \u00a0I knew many ministers from liberal denominations that used virtually every argument that the clip above trots out of the closet. \u00a0There\u2019s a reason we don\u2019t hear much about the \u201creligious left.\u201d\u00a0Not that there isn\u2019t one. \u00a0But have you ever wondered why there isn\u2019t the same emphasis, even from atheists and secularists who may be concerned about \u2018religious leftism\u2019? <\/p>\n
Because the religious left is basically the yap dog of the modern era. \u00a0They don\u2019t lead anything. \u00a0They don\u2019t stand ground against progressive movements. \u00a0When the latest, hippest declares a new late and hip ideal, the Religious Left takes scissors and razor blades to what\u2019s left of the Scriptures to\u00a0accommodate\u00a0 \u00a0So when a health minister in England, some years ago, first suggested that it might be OK allowing parents to let their babies die after they were born in case it takes that long to decide if the baby is worth saving, people were shocked that Bishops in the Anglican Church came out and said, \u201cYeah, I think that\u2019s what Jesus would do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Of course every time Christianity attempts to conform to the Secular Left, it ends up dwindling away at a faster pace. \u00a0Part of that is because some people just can\u2019t go that far. \u00a0At some point, people will pause and wonder if God is really the\u00a0divine\u00a0feminine\u00a0spirit of the\u00a0vagina\u00a0only satiated only by aborted\u00a0fetuses\u00a0that demonstrate power over the inherently worthless male of the\u00a0species\u00a0 \u00a0Others will keep going, but there will be splits. \u00a0Plus, those remaining tend to\u00a0increasingly\u00a0embrace the\u00a0narcissism\u00a0and hedonism all too common within the Secular Left, and so feel little compulsion to wake up on Sunday\u00a0mornings\u00a0for anything that doesn\u2019t center on them.<\/p>\n
Still, that\u2019s little concern for the Left. \u00a0Some, like Sam Harris, do get frustrated that the wimpy liberal\u00a0believers\u00a0get in the way of the fact that religion can no longer be tolerated and needs to be eradicated. \u00a0Nonetheless, most pay little attention, knowing that the religious Left stands for nothing but following wherever the movement of progress leads. \u00a0And if it means allowing parents to kill their kids, so be it. \u00a0Certainly, that\u2019s what Jesus would do. \u00a0As one liberal\u00a0professor\u00a0mused years ago when I was in\u00a0Seminary\u00a0 if you don\u2019t think Jesus would embrace the liberal truth, just ask her. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
