For those good-hearted, yet hopelessly naive and hyper-emotional types who keeps saying things like \u2018nobody\u00a0wants to ban all guns\u2019,\u00a0I give you the good Mr. Lessenberry of the Detroit Metrotimes<\/a>. \u00a0I know, that\u2019s one editorial. \u00a0One editorial it took 3 seconds to find with a Google search. \u00a0Fact is, there is an entire swath of our\u00a0nation\u00a0that would gleefully ban all guns and ditch the Second\u00a0Amendment\u00a0tomorrow if they thought there was any hope of doing so. \u00a0One group has simply been taught that guns are an\u00a0intrinsic\u00a0evil. \u00a0Like Southern Baptists with\u00a0alcohol,\u00a0they hold guns as far from their hearts as possible, and drop them in the nearest\u00a0convenient\u00a0dispenser. \u00a0They are\u00a0Hawkeye\u00a0Pierce, proudly declaring he\u2019d rather let himself and his friend Colonel Potter be captured or killed by the enemy than even touch a gun. <\/p>\n

The other group\u00a0is\u00a0more sinister. \u00a0These are part of the Barry Lynn progressives. \u00a0These are the folks who insist all Truth must be mandated. \u00a0Not values or religion of course. What they proclaim isn\u2019t beliefs or religion. \u00a0It\u2019s Truth, and it must be mandated. \u00a0And a growing number of those in this tradition (perhaps not Mr. Lynn) are concluding that it\u2019s time we shake up that old\u00a0Constitution\u00a0once and for all<\/a>. \u00a0Eliminating the Second Amendment would be a huge symbolic victory, and in the minds of some on both sides of the debate, the first chink in the\u00a0Constitutional\u00a0Armor. <\/p>\n

Lesson? \u00a0Argue for solutions to America\u2019s gun violence all you want, but please don\u2019t live in a silly land of make-believe, where evil NRA agents and stupid gun-clingers are the mischief, and everyone else is just hunky-dory swell with the purest of intentions to let everyone live and let live.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
