Ever since his ill-fated decision to stand against the Liberal Status Quo, Tebow has been a\u00a0mystery\u00a0 \u00a0A Heisman winning quarterback whose style was questioned for its compatibility for pro football, Tebow became\u00a0the\u00a0proverbial hot-potato\u00a0when he starred in a Super Bowl commercial renouncing abortion. \u00a0The NFL, happy to allow more progressive\u00a0politicizing\u00a0on behalf of its industry<\/a>, is less tolerant when it comes to standing against the\u00a0liberal\u00a0grain. \u00a0After all, like most big business, it thrives in a culture of ME, and that\u2019s what\u00a0liberalism,\u00a0\u00a0whether\u00a0intentionally or not, promotes. <\/p>\n

So Tebow was\u00a0begrudgingly\u00a0brought\u00a0in by the Denver Broncos last season, confined to the third string, and largely dismissed by critics who determined that he wasn\u2019t just not fit for pro football, but he was one of the worst to ever play the game. \u00a0Then, of course, history was changed as, due to floundering early in the season, Tebow was \u2013 with great trepidation \u2013 put in the game. \u00a0And then he won. \u00a0And won. And won again. \u00a0Critics insisted that they were sloppy wins. \u00a0Bad wins. Lousy wins. \u00a0But they were wins. \u00a0Then they went against Big Ben and the Steelers in the first week of playoffs, and the game has become the stuff of legend.<\/p>\n

Sure, the following week, when Tom Brady and the Patriots dined on Bronco for lunch, everyone saw the limits of Tebow and a team that had never been adjusted to him. \u00a0But still, for his first time out, it was a season of magic and awe. \u00a0So naturally, the Broncos brought in Peyton Manning,\u00a0prompting\u00a0Tebow to go to the Jets. \u00a0The\u00a0animosity\u00a0toward Tebow is as much the stuff of legend as any last minute win. \u00a0Not since Muhammad Ali angered American with his flagrant condemnations of America and the war in\u00a0Vietnam\u00a0has an\u00a0athlete\u00a0galvanized\u00a0so many in their hatred of an individual. \u00a0Which probably goes to show how the status quo meter has changed. \u00a0Same intolerance. \u00a0Different reasons.<\/p>\n

But the\u00a0hatred\u00a0toward Tebow apparently extended to the field this year, his coach, and the team itself. \u00a0So much so that, despite one clown performance after another, despite loss after loss, despite Sanchez approaching every bad stat that a quarterback can have, there was no way in God\u2019s green earth they were going to give Tebow a chance. \u00a0When an attitude or value system becomes\u00a0entrenched,\u00a0 self destruction is vastly\u00a0preferred\u00a0to giving in, and that\u2019s just what the Jets chose to do. \u00a0In the last three possessions of last night\u2019s fair-well\u00a0performance, when they needed but four points to tie the game and go into overtime, they suffered two interceptions, and a fumble. <\/p>\n

Naturally the sports press, who is not less hateful toward Tebow, have found ways of saying he was the mischief. \u00a0His very presence I guess. \u00a0But one thing is clear: the franchise was prepared to suffer an\u00a0embarrassingly\u00a0bad losing season, rather than take a chance on another year where Tebow-mania vindicated a much maligned\u00a0athlete\u00a0 \u00a0We\u2019ll see what happens next year. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
