The Mainstream Media has it in for the Catholic Church<\/a>, at least regarding certain issues (those which the Church runs afoul of progressive dogma). \u00a0Wow. \u00a0Really? \u00a0As a Protestant pastor, I used to joke that I was thankful for the Catholic Church, since it gave people something they could still proudly hate. \u00a0That took\u00a0Christianity\u00a0in general out of the\u00a0cross hairs\u00a0 \u00a0Sometimes\u00a0I wonder if\u00a0Catholics\u00a0across the blogosphere realize this. \u00a0No matter how many times they try to insist the sins of the world are because of those rascally Protestants, and the Catholics\u00a0Church\u00a0is really, really super swell and never did\u00a0the\u00a0really bad things, the non-Christian world isn\u2019t buying it. \u00a0As a non-Christian myself, I initially bought into the whole \u2018religion bad\/not religion good\u2019 song and dance, and along with most folks I knew, saw the Catholic Church as the epitome of everything that was\u00a0bad in religion rolled into one. \u00a0It\u00a0would\u00a0be better for Catholics to stop hammering\u00a0Protestantism\u00a0 and realize when they do, it only hurts the Christian witness to a non-Christian world, and it doesn\u2019t do a damn\u00a0thing\u00a0to change the idea that if religion sucks, and Christianity really sucks, there is nothing that sucks more than the Catholic Church.
