Lesson 4. \u00a0Which one of these pictures is not like the other? \u00a0Which one of these pictures doesn\u2019t belong?<\/div>\n

If you guessed Billy Graham, you\u2019d be correct. \u00a0If you pointed out that he is the only Christian, you\u2019d be wrong, as Warhol was reputed to be a practicing Catholic. \u00a0Yes, you could say he was the only Protestant Christian, and that\u2019s worth some points. \u00a0But here\u2019s the reason, for the purpose of our understanding of being Catholic, especially in the new media, the post-modern era, the Internet Age, or whatever you want to call it. \u00a0As far as I know, Billy Graham is the only one of the four shown for whom I have seen few if any complementary posts. \u00a0Not even when he\u2019s sick, have I seen a prayer post. \u00a0He\u2019s just not mentioned, or he\u2019s set up as an example of \u2018bad evangelicals\u2019. \u00a0I\u2019m not saying he\u2019s never been praised mind you. It isn\u2019t as if I\u2019ve read every post ever written. \u00a0But as much as I\u2019ve read praise posts of the others, I\u2019m at a loss to think of any that have praised the good reverend, at least to the same degree. \u00a0The other three:\u00a0liberal\u00a0pro-gay marriage and abortion rights advocate Jon Stewar<\/a>t, radical progressive atheist, the late\u00a0Christopher Hitchens<\/a>, and Andy Warhol<\/a>, avant-garde artists and advocate for the modern pornoculture, all have received at least one post praising them and lifting them up in some\u00a0positive\u00a0manner. In some cases, they\u2019ve received more than one praise post.\u00a0<\/div>\n

So again, if you are an evangelical, a\u00a0Protestant\u00a0 or even a recent convert, get used to some changes. \u00a0You aren\u2019t in Kansas any more. \u00a0Those you once celebrated, Dr. Graham, or Karl Barth, or Martin Luther, or just about anyone on an average Protestant list, will hardly ever \u2013 if ever at all \u2013 be referenced or mentioned, at least in a positive light. \u00a0Meanwhile, expect a fair amount of high fives to folks who advocate things considered so horrible, that Catholics say they cry out to God for\u00a0vengeance\u00a0 \u00a0How can this be? \u00a0Why wouldn\u2019t Catholics celebrate someone like Billy Graham more than, say, Jon Stewart or Christopher Hitchens? \u00a0Welcome to the Catholic blogosphere mate.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
