Who is speaking of Wizard of Oz? \u00a0Well, nobody that I can tell. \u00a0But it\u2019s on TV tonight. \u00a0The kids plopped down after coming back from Life Teen, and lo and behold, I found them watching Dorothy\u2019s escapades in overcoming the Wicked Witch of the West. \u00a0It just never grows old. \u00a0When I was growing up, before cable or VCRs, it was shown once a year and it was a major event. \u00a0It ranked right up there with going to Cedar Point or even Christmas (or at least my birthday). \u00a0We sometimes had treats. \u00a0One year my parents bought a candy making kit. \u00a0Sometimes I remember my Dad making fudge. \u00a0It was something lost today, a special event for its own sake, not something that only matters because Madison Avenue has something to gain (even if sponsors then raked in the money). \u00a0Anyhoo, one of the best reviews I\u2019ve ever read is also by Steven Graydanus<\/a>, so I suggest you click on the link and begin reading. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
