<\/span><\/span>Right now, that\u2019s my prayer. \u00a0I don\u2019t so easily discard America and its history to the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>trash heap<\/span>\u00a0 since I know full well it won\u2019t be me who pays the price, but my children and their children. \u00a0If I want to be\u00a0<\/span><\/span>courageous<\/span>\u00a0about my scorn and contempt for the American\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>experiment<\/span><\/span>\u00a0 I can simply pack up, move to a place like Saudi Arabia, and openly proclaim the Gospel. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>As it is, as flawed as things are, I\u2019ll bet that tomorrow, no matter how convoluted, things will go off relatively\u00a0<\/span><\/span>peacefully<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0Maybe not. \u00a0Maybe we\u2019ve already sunk to the level of riots and calls for violence if our guy doesn\u2019t win. \u00a0But if so, the side that calls for such will reveal itself for what it is \u2013 a revolutionary movement that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>doesn\u2019t<\/span>\u00a0seek to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>liberate<\/span>, but rather seeks to\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>subjugate<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>For my part, I\u2019ve never been so\u00a0<\/span><\/span>unenthusiastic<\/span>\u00a0about casting a vote in my life. \u00a0Since I was 18, I\u2019ve proudly\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>voted. \u00a0From those years I toyed with going into politics, through every election save one, I\u2019ve looked forward to going in to exercise that right that so many in\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0world yearn for, and so many in our past died to maintain. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>But this year, I couldn\u2019t possibly be less enthused. <\/span><\/span>Locally it\u2019s a different story, and there are issues and local races that I feel strongly about, and more invested in the outcomes. \u00a0But the presidency? \u00a0I\u2019m at a loss to think of a more inept, inconsequential, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>ineffective<\/span><\/span>\u00a0president in recent memory than Barack Obama. \u00a0I mean,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>aside<\/span>\u00a0from ramrodding his healthcare overhaul through with all the tactics common to a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Chicago<\/span>\u00a0stereotype, just what has he done? \u00a0Certainly not heal the land, and certainly not\u00a0<\/span><\/span>improve<\/span>\u00a0things. \u00a0If anything, his approach has been to max out as many credit cards as possible, with the whispered promise that if he is reelected, then we\u2019ll really see what he\u2019s up to. \u00a0That so many around the world who don\u2019t have our best interests in mind want Obama reelected says enough.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has been perhaps my least favorite candidate of all time. \u00a0If he only stood for things, then I could see voting with some measure of enthusiasm. \u00a0At this point, if he stood up and proclaimed that he willingly and joyfully advocated a list of intrinsic evils, I would vote with gladness, knowing what I would get. \u00a0As it is, I don\u2019t think anyone in America can tell just where Romney stands on a variety of key issues. \u00a0As far as I can tell, his main purpose in life has been to make money, and gobs of it. \u00a0Everything else, if he\u2019s given any thought at all to, has been minimal.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>And that\u2019s what we\u2019re left with. \u00a0In the end, I\u2019ll probably vote for Mitt Romney. \u00a0Why? \u00a0Because it\u2019s against\u00a0<\/span><\/span>my<\/span>\u00a0nature to stand in the bleachers, do nothing, and then complain about the team on the field. \u00a0It isn\u2019t to support Romney\u2019s more dubious positions. \u00a0But it is to attempt to halt the j<\/span><\/span><\/span>uggernaut<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that has risen against religion in general, and Christianity in particular, over the last\u00a0<\/span><\/span>few<\/span>\u00a0years. \u00a0The thing that bothered me about the HHS mandate wasn\u2019t Obama\u2019s belief that it was the right thing to do, nor was it those who insisted it wasn\u2019t a threat to religious liberty. \u00a0I think it is a threat, but I understan
\nd where folks might disagree.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
No, what bothered me was the initial reaction to the Bishops\u2019 opposition to the mandate, when many across the landscape reacted by saying, more or less, \u2018screw you Catholics, we hate you and your Church, and damn well hope it restricts your freedoms!\u2019 \u00a0Sure, it died down after a while, but I remember the first days, when not a few on the Left, or the Secular side of the media culture, were happy to give a middle finger to those who failed to be liberal.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>This was not isolated either. \u00a0We all saw the Chick fil A\u00a0<\/span><\/span>debacle<\/span><\/span>\u00a0 when elected officials attempted to use their government offices to banish the company of an American citizen simply because that individual voiced a non-liberal viewpoint about homosexuality. \u00a0Again, after a few days, many came out and criticized the move by these elected officials, but in the early days, there were plenty yelling for more censorship, more oppression of those who dare to not be liberal.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>And it is this flagrant movement of oppression and tyranny that has found a friend in Obama, and a willing accomplice in the modern propaganda ministry, that must be slowed. \u00a0I doubt it will be stopped. \u00a0But for the sake of my children, I cannot see another four years being anything other than a march toward oppression and the eradication of the right to not be liberal if this movement\u2019s chief proponent, who now occupies the White House, has anything to do with it. \u00a0So as much as I am reluctant to do so, I\u2019ll more than likely pull a lever for Romney tomorrow, and hope through some miraculous turn of events, the better part of his family and the goodness he must have to bear with the struggles of his wife and loving children, will emerge. \u00a0It\u00a0<\/span><\/span>will<\/span><\/span>\u00a0emerge against the more wicked turns of the traditionalists in America in recent years, and will attempt to find that Face of God that we are called to seek, and help allay that force emerging in those realms that are peopled with those who would strike down the freedoms once enjoyed by Americans, and that our children should have a right to enjoy.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>
