Andy Williams has died<\/a>. \u00a0One of those rare folks who seemed to have led a good life despite the celebrity. \u00a0He was of the Rat Pack era but without the drinking, smoking, cussing and broads. \u00a0He was a family man. \u00a0During his Christmas Specials, my parents \u2013 not Catholic \u2013 waited for him to do his rendition of Ave Maria<\/i>. \u00a0Personally, I always liked his take on The First Noel<\/i> and O Holy Night<\/i>. \u00a0I also enjoyed other songs of his, and was always partial to his version of Speak Softly<\/i> (theme to The Godfathe<\/i>r). \u00a0He will be missed. <\/p>\nIn some ways, he already was. \u00a0His brand of\u00a0entertainment, where we could enjoy a family special without the sex, drugs and bathroom humor, went the way of the butter churn ages ago. \u00a0Yet when you watch those specials, and realize that yes, it was just Hollywood after all, you still realize that there was something about \u2018the family special\u2019 that made producers aim toward that audience. \u00a0Somewhere in America, family was still that\u00a0important. \u00a0Today, watch the\u00a0specials. \u00a0You\u2019ll see what\u2019s important now. \u00a0Goodbye Mr. Williams, you and your era, for all its flaws, will be missed for all its best qualities. \u00a0Qualities that you seemed to possess in plenty.<\/p>\n
