And helps him fill in the amount. \u00a0So Lawrence Krauss<\/a> is part of the new dispensation of atheists, preferring the term anti-theist. \u00a0That is, realizing that you can\u2019t prove a negative, and that science has been a poor tool in proving there is no God, it\u2019s time to change the terms. \u00a0Which is what he did in this interview. \u00a0The question has always been simple: why is there something instead of nothing?<\/p>\n

Well Dr. Krauss and company have an answer: the universe could come from nothing, all it needs is the laws of nature! \u00a0Anyone who made it past\u00a0kindergarten\u00a0will, of\u00a0course, see the flaw in that one. \u00a0Where did the laws of nature come from? \u00a0Don\u2019t they constitute\u00a0something? \u00a0Dr. Krauss seems to use the phrase \u201claws of nature\u201d in the same manner that religious folks speak of God. \u00a0Dr. Kruass explains that empty space is a bubbling cauldron of particles just waiting to do\u00a0something. How do you define nothing as having something like particles? \u00a0Later, Dr. Krauss explains that we can remove particles from empty space and it still has weight. \u00a0Is this the empty space he means when the he says the universe can come from no things, or is it the later empty space devoid of particles? \u00a0If so, does empty space automatically have particles and they\u00a0have\u00a0to be removed? \u00a0If so, who did the removing? <\/p>\n

Dr. Krauss then makes a jab at religious people saying that most don\u2019t believe silly things like a man being eaten by a whale or a priest turning a wafer into Jesus, so they just put those silly things aside because they want to\u00a0believe. \u00a0The\u00a0questions\u00a0that could have been asked there are legion, for\u00a0they\u00a0are many. \u00a0Do you have stats, what\u00a0constitutes\u00a0many? \u00a0What about the beliefs of other religions? \u00a0He said the major religions but only gave examples of Christianity (Catholicism particularly). \u00a0What of the others? \u00a0Also, Pew Research<\/a> has found that a significant number or atheists admit to praying, and that some (around\u00a06%) believe in a personal God. Is it possible they find a universe of nothing but matter to be silly, and does that mean anything? \u00a0If the fact that religious people don\u2019t\u00a0necessarily\u00a0believe what they should\u00a0about\u00a0religion is supposed to mean something, wouldn\u2019t the fact that atheists don\u2019t believe what they should about atheism mean something too?<\/p>\n

Of course the biggie could have been asked: Dr. Krause, you already seem to believe\u00a0that the universe is merely material, and that nothing beyond\u00a0the\u00a0material exists, so you are confining your\u00a0examination\u00a0of all creation to the physical\u00a0sciences. \u00a0Do you have any evidence that this assumption\u00a0and\u00a0this practice is correct? \u00a0Plus, of course, it could have been asked: Dr. Krause, you say there is no evidence for purpose in the\u00a0universe, could you define that? \u00a0Or, how about this: Dr. Krause, you seem to be saying everything could come from nothing but then talking about things that appear to be something (particles, laws of nature). \u00a0Is it possible you are redefining terms like \u2018nothing\u2019 based on a more narrow field of study, the practice of which has no proof for being valid (see question about assuming a material creation above)? \u00a0Dr. Krause, is it possible that you are using terms like \u2018nothing\u2019 in ways that apply only to the physics lab, and not to the average person who hasn\u2019t already concluded that all creation is only material, and there is nothing else? \u00a0Kudos to my wife, who is more scientifically inclined and whose Dad is a\u00a0chemist, for pointing out that he really was using definitions based solely on\u00a0mathematical\u00a0and physical\u00a0premises, rather than the broader understanding of such terms.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n

All of these could have been asked. \u00a0But they weren\u2019t. \u00a0All CNN host Randi Kaye could do was hand him a blank slate with such\u00a0piercing\u00a0questions as\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0some think that a universe out of\u00a0nothing\u00a0is as\u00a0weird\u00a0as God creating it? \u00a0Or my favorite, so you\u2019re saying there is no God? \u00a0He\u2019s a bleeping atheist. \u00a0Duh. \u00a0This is why atheism not being the majority viewpoint is so puzzling. \u00a0When this is the crack journalism that brings it to the masses, you\u2019d think everyone would believe in atheism. \u00a0As it is, perhaps everyone else is more perceptive than Ms. Kaye, and wiser than Dr. Krauss.<\/p>\n

Note: I\u2019m no scientist. \u00a0But those are the questions I would ask simply as I went down and listened to the different points Dr. Krauss was making. \u00a0I\u2019m not saying there are no answers to my questions. \u00a0I\u2019m saying at least I would have asked them.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
