It was G.K. Chesterton who once said that when you break the big laws, you do not get liberty; you do not even get anarchy. You get the small laws. The big law that\u00a0our enlightened and hip post-modern culture got rid of some time ago was the law of common sense.\u00a0 After all, you can\u2019t *prove* common sense, can you?\u00a0 You can\u2019t win arguments with it.\u00a0 You certainly can\u2019t win court cases with it. Nor can you defend yourself in court cases with it.\u00a0 Hence, we have protection against litigation.\u00a0 Everything has to have something to protect itself, no matter how ludicrous, and the slightest bit of research that suggests squares are round receives a hat tip over common sense that suggests squares can\u2019t be round.\u00a0 So we end up with little stories like this<\/a> on a daily basis.\u00a0 Consent forms?\u00a0 In the day, I\u2019m not sure they even had consent forms.\u00a0 When I was young, my Mom doesn\u2019t remembering signing such things for us.\u00a0 If our picture inadvertently appeared in the newspaper, my Mom thought it was good news and told everyone about it.\u00a0 No forms required.\u00a0 But in our intellectually superior society, we can\u2019t rest on anything so quaint as common sense.\u00a0 Hence, you have cartoon smiley faces interposed upon the head of a student who failed to provide a consent form to the school for class pictures.\u00a0 Death by a thousand idiocies will be the epitaph of our nation I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
