Just a quick howdy after the feeding frenzy.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if I could face another day if so much as a turkey sandwich was in my future.\u00a0 Still, it went well.\u00a0 Dad was certainly missed, though in my family\u2019s usual way, we didn\u2019t dwell on it too much.\u00a0 Had the usual, with a well placed nap in the middle of the day to help things settle.\u00a0 Last night we watched The Godfather<\/em> on AMC with the kids.\u00a0 I thought they were old enough, and my 11 year old wasn\u2019t interested enough, to see it on television.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

But one strange tradition made its way to us once again.\u00a0 We have several that we try to keep, or have adjusted to now that ours is the house everyone comes to.\u00a0 My sister and I used to always break the wishbone, but since Dad was the official referee, I noticed last night we let that pass.\u00a0 After the nap, the family came back over and we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em>, the watching of which became part of this holiday when my wife and I lived in Louisville and Mom wanted to watch it with us before we went back (since we always spent Christmas to ourselves except once on my oldest\u2019s first Christmas, which just happened to fall that way). But we also kept alive another weird tradition I think is unique to our household. <\/p>\n

When he was only about four or five, one Thanksgiving our oldest asked for a pie crust.\u00a0 That\u2019s all he wanted.\u00a0 Not a pie, a pie crust.\u00a0 So my parents bought him a graham cracker pie crust.\u00a0 Since then, it\u2019s been a tradition for the boys to get one after the meal.\u00a0 They actually look\u00a0forward to it, and can come to near blows if one of them tries to take too much!\u00a0\u00a0 Strange.\u00a0 Anyway, that was that, and I\u2019ll be gone until Monday.\u00a0 Have a happy and blessed season of thanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
