As of this time, it looks like the fabled Super Committee has failed to reach an agreement<\/a>.\u00a0 In other news, the Ohio State Buckeyes football team lost to Penn State last Saturday.\u00a0 What do these two things have in common?\u00a0 While they didn\u2019t have to turn out the way they did, nobody is shocked that they did.\u00a0 A broken country can only whine so long about its representative government being broken. A country where narcissism and hedonism are the greatest commandments, and the only real religious conflict is between Mammon worship on one side and the veneration of Moloch on the other, you shouldn\u2019t expect much.\u00a0 In a nation where the \u2018Left\u2019 and the \u2018Right\u2019 are looking more and more alike, what should we think?\u00a0 Since most folks have a morality that is akin to \u2018screw unto others, as long as you don\u2019t screw unto me\u2019, followed by \u2018I\u2019ll scratch his immoral back if he\u2019ll scratch mine later\u2019, we actually think our representative government will be what?\u00a0 Noble?\u00a0 Virtuous?\u00a0 Pure?\u00a0 Honest?\u00a0 Humble?\u00a0\u00a0Heck, even effective? <\/p>\n

In an Internet age where we criticise first, last, and as a general rule; in an age after which we have spent fifty years trashing our culture, our heritage, our nation\u2019s past, our religious roots, our societal foundations, we expect our leaders to put country first?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 Are we that stupid, that naive, that arrogant, or a is it a combination thereof? <\/p>\n

Nope.\u00a0 Our government is everything we\u2019ve earned.\u00a0 Our impotent and incompetent leader is nowhere to be seen, hiding out as far away from the mess as possible.\u00a0 Of course, fair minded and realistic observers can tell he hasn\u2019t clue one how to lead, and much of our mess is firmly in his hands, the hands of a completely inept commander in chief.\u00a0 Not that all of the problems are his.\u00a0 They weren\u2019t all Bush\u2019s.\u00a0 Or Clinton\u2019s.\u00a0 Or the Republicans.\u00a0 Or the Democrats.\u00a0 It\u2019s a testimony to our monumental stupidity that we believe such partisan rubbish.\u00a0 Or a testimony to our willingness to advance obvious lies as long as we get what we want. <\/p>\n

In any event, this is barely news.\u00a0 Americans have laughed at their congress for being incompetent for ages.\u00a0 The problem is, compared to the rest of the nation, if we\u00a0are honest, our government is one of the best things left we have to offer.\u00a0 And that should make us do more than occupy Wall Street.\u00a0 It should make us stand up and yell \u2018the time has come to say, Enough!\u2019<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
