Sad to hear<\/a>.\u00a0 His Family Circus<\/em> cartoons were\u00a0a staple of the funny pages when I was growing up.\u00a0 Were they the funniest, blow beer out your nose and fall off the chair in laughter comics?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t have to be.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t have to be profound, or deep, or ironic, or witty,\u00a0or anything.\u00a0 We had other strips, like Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts<\/em>, and Bloom County<\/em>, for that.\u00a0 But Family Circus filled in that little void, just right for childhood nostalgia.\u00a0 Funny thing was, it filled me with a sense of nostalgia when I was a child!\u00a0 Don\u2019t know why, but it seemed to be childhood the way I both\u00a0experienced it and wanted to experience it.\u00a0 I have no clue if it was intentional or not, but that\u2019s how I experienced the strips.\u00a0 So thanks for the memories both then and now Mr. Keane, may you rest in peace.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
