I am saddened to learn that the great Peter Falk has died<\/a>.\u00a0 He was one of those stars\u00a0the camera seemed to love.\u00a0 Put him in any scene next to any accomplished actor \u2013 and you always went straight to Falk.\u00a0 There was just something about his bumbling, sloppy, frumpy way that endeared him to millions.\u00a0 Of course to most of a few generations, he is an will always be Columbo, walking out of that sunset with the eerie music for the TV mystery movie of the week.\u00a0 He would wear his drooping overcoat, cigar in hand, and just when the bad guy thought he finally was about to leave, he would pause and then come back for one more \u2018Ahh, there\u2019s just one more thing.\u2019\u00a0 It was priceless.\u00a0 And so was Mr. Falk.
I hated to learn of his own struggles with Alzheimer\u2019s, as that was the plague of my own Dad in his later years.\u00a0 I know what that is, and what it does.\u00a0 By the time it is over, you feel that the loved one has long since left.\u00a0 But in his day, he was the consummate scene stealer.\u00a0 It is as if no part he ever played didn\u2019t fit him.\u00a0 From working with Blake Edwards, to being the kindly grandfather in The Princess Bride,<\/em> he seemed to be just right.\u00a0 The tributes in the article say it well.\u00a0 Falk was, in a way, Columbo.\u00a0 A short, physically less than stellar man with one eye and a speech impediment, and yet he moved mountains in his chosen craft.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

How inspiring.\u00a0 Goodbye Peter Falk.\u00a0 You will be missed. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
