When he is off his speech, however, it can be almost painful to hear.\u00a0 Nearly as bad as George W. Bush.\u00a0 Not that bad, but nearly.\u00a0 His pauses, his stops, his \u2018ums\u2019, and \u2018uhs\u2019 and verbal trips make for excruciating listening.\u00a0 Not that presidents have to be academy award winning actors at speech delivery or anything.\u00a0 But come on, the guy\u2019s just not that good.\u00a0 But in preparing for 2012, with the press insisting that all of this economy isn\u2019t really that bad, that overseas the world loves us even if they don\u2019t give us what we ask for, and everything is really OK and nobody\u00a0cares that Obama was overseas while his own people were dying from one natural disaster after another, the Propaganda Ministry took note of another thing that could be a chink in the armor.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

And so Meghan Daum takes keyboard in hand <\/a>and informs us that it isn\u2019t that Obama is a bad speaker.\u00a0 No.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s just that he\u2019s so darn smart.\u00a0 You see, he\u2019s an intellectual.\u00a0 He\u2019s intelligent.\u00a0 He\u2019s ivy league.\u00a0 When he stumbles, it\u2019s because his keen and piercing intellect is\u00a0so far beyond the normal human experience that the mere muscles of his vocal chords can\u2019t keep up.\u00a0 Us not-Obama types just don\u2019t realize the power of his intellectual superiority.\u00a0 That\u2019s why it looks like he can\u2019t speak worth a darn, but in reality is demonstrating his cognitive superiority.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
