Over at the Huffington Post, Jayanti Tamm asks the hard question:\u00a0 Why is raising religion-free still taboo?<\/a>\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s news to me.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know it was taboo.\u00a0 I suppose that some people might find it different.\u00a0 A few might not approve.\u00a0 But I\u2019ll bet just as many might not approve of raising your child Muslim, or Catholic, or Jewish, or anything else.\u00a0 There certainly isn\u2019t a societal taboo about it.\u00a0 If anything, the scale is tipped away from open displays of religion in the public forum.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

This is one of those cases where the revolution must feed itself.\u00a0 I was told some years ago by an historian from S. America all about the revolutionary mindset.\u00a0 Because the American Revolution was an anomaly, most Americans forget what revolutions are usually all about.\u00a0 He reminded me that most of the time, the revolution must continue.\u00a0 Either you find new baddies, or you have to insist the war needs fought, that the regime still needs defeated \u2013 even if you are sitting in the presidential palace while saying so. <\/p>\n

So this is the typical thing you get.\u00a0 We are a racist nation, even though Barack Obama is president.\u00a0 We are a sexist nation because women still have less earning power and aren\u2019t as numerous in CEO positions, even though women are trashing men in most other areas.\u00a0 We are a homophobic nation where gays can\u2019t survive, even though gays are among the highest earners in our country, and there is increasing intolerance against those who don\u2019t accept homosexual normality.\u00a0 In short, when pushing\u00a0a revolution, you can never, ever admit victory.\u00a0 You want the revolution to go on, continue insisting that blacks use different drinking fountains, women are kept in the kitchen, gays are huddling in the back corners with no hope of survival, and atheists non non-traditional believers are the ones who are having difficulty justifying raising their kids their own way. <\/p>\n

Of course, as a side note, it\u2019s funny when you read the entire article.\u00a0 Essentially she is saying that you shouldn\u2019t impose your religious values on your kids.\u00a0 You should impose her values on your kids.\u00a0 One of the typical \u2018can\u2019t see the forest for the trees\u2019 arguments you get from some circles.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
