When she said she doesn\u2019t want to be lumped in with the lunatics?\u00a0 Over at PopEaters <\/em>(yeah, I know), there is an interview with Patricia Heaton<\/a> of \u2018Everybody Loves Raymond\u2019<\/em> fame.\u00a0 Now we all know she is conservative, and Christian.\u00a0 She\u2019s made that clear.\u00a0 But in this article, she appears to go out of her way to explain that she\u2019s all for gay rights and gay marriage.\u00a0 OK.\u00a0 I guess not being for gay rights in Hollywood would be a little like serving in a Baptist Church and not believing in God.\u00a0 You just wouldn\u2019t last long, period.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

But then the article quotes her the following way:<\/p>\n

Telling me that she has many gay friends and doesn\u2019t oppose gay marriage, Patricia gets frustrated being automatically lumped together with other conservatives, a characterization she says has cost her possible work. \u201cWe know for a fact there are some people who have said they wouldn\u2019t want to work with us because of our politics,\u201d she said, with her husband David Hunt adding, \u201cWe get lumped in with lunatics.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

First, note she says because of her politics.\u00a0 Now, are these positions she holds because of her faith, or her politics?\u00a0 I would have thought she would have said \u2018because of her faith\u2019.\u00a0 Or is \u2018because of my politics\u2019 just a blanket term for anything nowadays. <\/p>\n

But noticed the last.\u00a0 \u201cWe get lumped in with the lunatics.\u201d\u00a0 Who does she mean?\u00a0 Anyone opposed to gay marriage?\u00a0 Anyone who doesn\u2019t fully support the entire gay rights movement?\u00a0 Anyone who thinks there might be something wrong with the homosexual orientation lived out?\u00a0 Who did she mean?\u00a0 They have it in quotes, and in journalism, that is supposed to mean she was taken word for word.\u00a0 Was it the right context?\u00a0 Did she really mean that?<\/p>\n

My first thought was \u2018Thanks Patricia for throwing all of those [non-you] believers under the bus!\u201d\u00a0 But then I considered the source.\u00a0 I\u2019m willing to think the source, just chock-a-block full with agendas and axes to grind, twisted her around to say what they wanted her to say.\u00a0 But if not, I would say it is typical for the demand that a life in Hollywood today must place on anyone of faith.\u00a0 The desire to throw other believers under the bus, if only because you know some gay friends, and aren\u2019t going to let a little thing like the same faith you so proudly display in other areas, get in the way of that one.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have to see I guess.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
