I may not\u00a0blog much today.\u00a0 I\u2019m trying to get my head around what happened Saturday in Arizona.\u00a0 I have a lot of opinions, and am trying to work them out.\u00a0 I know already there are plenty trying to make political hay out of this, insist it\u2019s \u2018those people\u2019s fault\u2019, and try to advance whatever agendas they have.\u00a0 Few will be pointing the fingers at themselves.\u00a0 Most of what folks are saying now is \u2018discourse, discourse, discourse.\u2019\u00a0 Yet I know that\u2019s false.\u00a0 Some of what I remember hearing 30 years ago is far worse than anything any public figure would say today.\u00a0 It\u2019s gotta be something more foundational.\u00a0 Something in the bloodstream of our society.\u00a0 Something that is either the fault of our divisions, or the fault of whatever has led to our divisions.\u00a0 But I don\u2019t want to say too much until I have time to sort it all through.\u00a0 Right now I\u2019m sort of working on a couple other obligations, plus keeping tabs with the news, the blogs, the websites that are covering this.\u00a0 I\u2019m no genius, but I know it\u2019s more than just a simple slogan \u2018it\u2019s the rhetoric stupid\u2019.\u00a0 It has to be deeper than that.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
So let me retreat into my hazy sanctum and tend to\u00a0a few of my other obligations, and maybe some Holmseian\u00a0deduction will hit me after looking at all\u00a0the elementary facts.\u00a0 Maybe not.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the best \u2013 and probably most mature \u2013 thing we can do is remember in our prayers those who are the real victims of this horror, their loved ones who must live forever with their losses, and all who were affected by the one who is ultimately to blame no matter what.\u00a0 Till then,\u00a0au revoir<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
