Technically this feast was celebrated at the Sunday Mass this last Sunday.\u00a0 It\u2019s\u00a0most famous part being the revealing of Christ to the Magi. \u00a0This is one of those times wherein being part of a more traditional Catholic parish would be wonderful, as such celebrations were said to be marked with blessings of gold, frankincense, and myrrh and similar traditional trappings.\u00a0\u00a0How cool is that?\u00a0 For our family\u2019s part, we\u2019ve wondered how to go about marking this day special.\u00a0 For most of our society, the Holy Season of _______mas begins on the Feast of Black Friday, and ends when TBS stops its 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story<\/em>.\u00a0 This year we thought we would save the Christmas cards for the boys \u2013 each with a little gift inside \u2013 for today.\u00a0 Next year, who knows?\u00a0 It\u2019s one of those things wherein Catholics live in a decidedly secular culture, one that is not aided by many Protestant, and certainly post-Protestant denominations whose historical knowledge tends to extend all the way back to the Superbowl XXXI party.\u00a0 So it isn\u2019t as if there is a horde of Catholics who follow the same traditions.\u00a0 They seem to be pretty much in the same boat, trying to eke out some traditions (if any) in the cultural soup of our commercialized and secularized nation.\u00a0 Therefore it\u2019s pretty much make it up as you go.\u00a0\u00a0 So we\u2019ll see what happens.\u00a0 Anyone with any information or suggestions, and I\u2019d sure be all ears.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
