It\u2019s what they do<\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s all they do.\u00a0 They can\u2019t be reasoned with.\u00a0 They can\u2019t be bargained with.\u00a0 They don\u2019t feel pity, or remorse, or fear.\u00a0 And they absolutely will not stop \u2013 ever \u2013 until they need to make all the same promises to get elected again next time.<\/p>\nI know, that\u2019s a tad cynical.\u00a0 But in a way, we deserve what we get.\u00a0 We demand our politicians tell us they will give us everything we (defined as \u2018me\u2019) want, while not really caring about anyone else who may want something different.\u00a0 Of course they must then tell that \u2018anyone else\u2019 the same thing.\u00a0 If someone got up and said, \u2018Look, fact of the matter is this country is bigger than any of you.\u00a0 I\u2019ll do my best to help as many as possible, while standing on my own principles and beliefs (in which they are stated here:________), but I can\u2019t promise you everything, and may only be able to do a little bit overall \u2013 some of which may end up costing some of you as others benefit.\u00a0 Hopefully it will all even out in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n
Can anyone imagine a promise like that leading to an election?\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Which is why we get the usual from our elected officials.\u00a0 In the end, a Democratic society, even a Republic, has itself to blame when bellyaching about its elected officials.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
