charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianews.it\/news-en\/West-Java:-Catholics-celebrate-Christmas-Mass-in-a-parking-lot-20354.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Java<\/a>, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianews.it\/news-en\/A-gloomy-Christmas-in-Iraq.-Mgr-Sako:-we-will-resist-and-we-will-remain-20350.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Iraq<\/a>, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholic.org\/international\/international_story.php?id=39661\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Egypt<\/a>, and in <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ruvr.ru\/2010\/12\/28\/38141302.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Nigeria<\/a>, Christians have caught the wave of what true love and openness regarding religion is all about.\u00a0 Of course, none of this is to, or should be to, suggest that there is anything wrong with Islam or the Muslim world.\u00a0 These, as well as those cases in Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, and Indonesia that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/daffeythoughts\/2010\/12\/more-news-from-religion-of-peace.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">we\u2019ve looked at<\/a> over the last few weeks, just go to show you how extremists can mess up everything.\u00a0 After all, just about every study shows barely 10% of the Muslim world supports jihad and terrorism against non-Muslims ( that would be, for the mathematically challenged, around 150 million if we assume a global population of 1.5 billion Muslims \u2013 but not to worry).\u00a0 Yes we have had hundreds of Muslims trying to pull off mass killings of Americans and Europeans as well, including one pretty successful jaunt in the heart of America\u2019s military establishment.\u00a0 But naturally I\u2019m aware that most of this is probably America\u2019s fault, and especially the fault of Bush and his policies.<\/p>\n<p>So I think it\u2019s clear that anyone who even thinks that there is a larger \u2018Muslim\u2019 problem or a problem within the \u201cIslamic World\u201d is merely demonstrating the rawest form of ignorance and Islamaphobic bigotry.\u00a0 Those who insist they really don\u2019t want Muslims hurt or discriminated against, that they really see some problems across the Islamic world that need addressed beyond just terrorism, are speaking the language of stereotypes and prejudice.\u00a0 How else can we explain the likes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/8301-31727_162-20015763-10391695.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Terry Jones<\/a>, whose act of unspeakable evil was\u00a0rightly <a href=\"http:\/\/killingthebuddha.com\/mag\/damnation\/yes-mr-kristof-this-is-america\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">used to demonstrate<\/a> the long, sad history of American racism and bigotry that marks and defines every nook and cranny of our country and its shameful past.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Java, in Iraq, in Egypt, and in Nigeria, Christians have caught the wave of what true love and openness regarding religion is all about.\u00a0 Of course, none of this is to, or should be to, suggest that there is anything wrong with Islam or the Muslim world.\u00a0 These, as well as those cases in [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2805,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4017","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>And yet more love for Christianity from the Religion of Peace<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"In Java, in Iraq, in Egypt, and in Nigeria, Christians have caught the wave of what true love and openness regarding religion is all about.&nbsp;
