So I go over there to answer Sinead O\u2019Conner\u2019s stupid response<\/a> to the Pope\u2019s Christmas smack down on the abuse scandal, and decide to see if there are any articles about the persecution of Christians in Iraq.\u00a0 To my pleasant surprise, the left leaning Huffpost actually had an article<\/a>.\u00a0 So I decided to get my blood pressure up by reading the comments.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t disappoint.\u00a0 Most were, as could be expected, blaming the mess on Bush\u2019s Iraq invasion.\u00a0 In a very superficial sense, there is some truth to that.\u00a0 But like all things, it is far more complex than \u2018gee if only we hadn\u2019t invaded everything would be peachy.\u2019\u00a0 Nonetheless, most went along that line.\u00a0 But there were some chilling comments, as often happens on the partisan blogs.\u00a0 The worst I bothered to read was this:<\/p>\n

Xmas is about consumeris\u00adm at it\u2019s worse, and if this attack got some Christians to act christian, it\u2019s kinda of nice to hear about that. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It referred to the massacre of Christians a few weeks ago.\u00a0 The commenter actually lamented the fact that the editors had edited down his initial post.\u00a0 If they took something off but left that, it boggles my mind to think what it could have been.\u00a0 But that\u2019s the love and respect you get from extremes on any side \u2013 including the Left side of life.\u00a0 The sooner those on the Left admit that it isn\u2019t just the Right that holds a monopoly on extremism, the better off they\u2019ll be.\u00a0 Thankfully another commenter chastised the above statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
