An interesting piece over at the National Post<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 Geoffery Clarfield looks at the possible music styles of Jesus\u2019 day and compares it to Gregorian Chant.\u00a0 Worth the read, though I\u2019m always off-put by statements such as this:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the book of Matthew, we are given an account of the Last Supper. Many scholars now believe it was a Passover Seder where Jesus and his disciples most likely recounted, in story and song, the exodus of the Jewish people from their bondage in Egypt over a thousand years earlier.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

What does he mean by \u2018now\u2019<\/em>?\u00a0\u00a0 Since I went to seminary in 1993, it was taught that Jesus and his disciples were partaking in the Seder meal.\u00a0 And it wasn\u2019t presented as some new, radical theory.\u00a0 I had the impression that view had been around for many moons.\u00a0 But sometimes I think we can\u2019t resist saying \u2018now\u2019<\/em> as if the audience in question won\u2019t have a clue anyway, so it will be news to them.\u00a0 Perhaps that\u2019s it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know.\u00a0 It just makes me wonder when I hear the word now<\/em> applied to things I\u2019ve long known about.\u00a0 <\/div>\n
