Take this little story<\/a> about Olbermann\u2019s attacks on Sarah Palin for daring to \u2018gasp\u2019 promote abstinence.\u00a0 I admit that the sex culture has it tough.\u00a0 Like most revolutionary movements, their beginning has the advantage of arguing from silence that their way will work.\u00a0 It\u2019s always easy to tear down the status quo<\/em>, since times have always been tough, and\u00a0always will be tough, and you can\u00a0pin it on the way things are.\u00a0 When you come up with something brand spanking new, the ball is in your court.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

So they told us that the problem with sex is we are hypocrites, we\u2019re suppressing our true instincts, we aren\u2019t fulfilling our natural desires. Once we follow Freud\u2019s suggestion and just throw off the shackles of repression, the sun will rise, the stars align, the flowers bloom, and we\u2019ll finally realize what true fulfilment is all about.<\/p>\n

At least in the modern era, that was a compelling argument.\u00a0 First, it was what people wanted to hear.\u00a0 That\u2019s always a plus with revolutionary ideals.\u00a0 Second, it argued from silence.\u00a0 Since we lived in a time with various norms regarding sexuality, and since there were always problems, the good revolutionary could simply point and say \u2018see, it\u2019s because we\u2019re not being honest about how natural sex is and living according to said honesty!\u2019\u00a0 And so we did.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Problem now, we\u2019re seeing that a sex saturated culture isn\u2019t all that and a bag of chips.\u00a0 There seems to be quite a lot of problems associated with that kind of livun\u2019.\u00a0 Never mind that the old idea\u00a0sex is natural, therefore we should keep it shorn of all those pesky moral standards, has long gone the way of the Dodo.\u00a0 Plus, despite all attempts to the contrary, it\u2019s difficult for the average thinking person not to connect the dots between \u2018hey, let\u2019s all rip our clothes off and have sex\u2019 with various social ills such as the AIDS pandemic.\u00a0 All of this because we don\u2019t want to admit what should be obvious about something we hope to be true: that sex practiced the way animals do was as much a fairy tale as Cinderella.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Therefore, as it becomes painfully clear that the Woodstock ideal of sexual relations has been as devastating as an influenza outbreak coupled with the fall of Rome, those who want to keep a\u00a0 sex first culture are getting rather panicky about people challenging their empire.\u00a0 And with panic comes the increasing tendency to define evil as anyone who doesn\u2019t conform to\u00a0failed policies that the likes of Olbermann are so keen on defending.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
