it won\u2019t be the American Century<\/a>.\u00a0 This makes me think of a question I asked a while ago: When was the last time America did anything that wowed the world?\u00a0 Can\u2019t think of anything.\u00a0 Let\u2019s be honest, what has America done but slowly sink into the mire of history? <\/p>\nWhy?\u00a0 Many reasons.\u00a0 I\u2019m convinced that the unrestrained, unchecked, and unbalanced focus on America\u2019s sins is one reason.\u00a0 Just like a person too obsessed with the negative will end up an empty shell, so a nation that can\u2019t see any good without harping on the bad will have little reason to inspire its people to think of anything but themselves.\u00a0 And that\u2019s certainly what has happened.\u00a0 While other civilizations and nations rise as we decline, you don\u2019t get the feeling we even care.<\/p>\n
Oh, we\u2019re bothered when the first pangs from the birth of a new Super Power takes hold, like our floundering economy or decreasing sense of security.\u00a0 But other than that, most Americans seem to focus on two things: how much they can still buy, and how they can convince themselves that it\u2019s all the other Americans\u2019 fault that we\u2019re in this mess.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Meanwhile tick-tock, tick-tock.\u00a0 The monitor is approaching flat line, and those who will be alive when it happens will be hit with the full measure of our folly and short sightedness.\u00a0 Is it inevitable?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Not yet.\u00a0 But with each passing day that we continue our downward spiral, it becomes less likely we\u2019ll be able to pull out of the fall.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
