this story<\/a> is that it will take so damn long.\u00a0 America, like\u00a0 Western Culture, is dying.\u00a0 That much is pretty clear.\u00a0 I\u2019m of the school of thought that the West has been on the decline since the 19th century.\u00a0 When European intellectuals threw out the last vestiges of Christian teaching, and nation states lifted themselves up above all other considerations, it was the beginning of the end.\u00a0 America, always keen on following Europe, was only behind by a couple decades or so.\u00a0 Being a new country, it had to hit its zenith, which it did between around 1900 and 1965 or so.\u00a0 Since then, it\u2019s been \u2013 with a few bumps in the road \u2013\u00a0a steady decline.\u00a0 Europe is more or less finished.\u00a0 Odds makers are no longer asking if, but when Europe will become Eurabia, the north-westernmost extension of the Islamic world.\u00a0 Meanwhile in America, the primary candidate for taking control of the wheel is China.\u00a0 In response to a political ad that showed a Chinese lecturer discussing the downfall of America, I saw a fellow blast it as untrue.\u00a0 In an interview on CNN, he said the problem with the commercial was that it linked America\u2019s downfall to policies that the Chinese have adopted, including stimulus-like spending.\u00a0 What I couldn\u2019t help notice is that China, unlike America, didn\u2019t go into debt to China to pull it off.\u00a0 <\/p>\nNo, it\u2019s only a question\u00a0 of which generation is ongoing to the be the first to get it in the throat.\u00a0 Having spent 50 years or so apologizing for every sin, and focusing on every fault, most Americans don\u2019t think there\u2019s much there worth saving.\u00a0 Or at least far too many think that.\u00a0 If America tanks, what of it?\u00a0 No big deal.\u00a0 Things will just keep on keeping on.\u00a0 Of course that\u2019s for those Americans who\u00a0take time off from texting, playing video games, and working for the next tech upgrade to even think about such things.\u00a0 If money, drugs, and sex are the three gifts of post-modern America in which so many abideth, then apathy and complacency are the crook and scepter with which we rule our crumbling domain.\u00a0 And we only will be able to measure the results\u00a0by the suffering of our posterity.\u00a0 I just have to remind them that while the temptation to never forgive us will be strong, forgive us they must.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
