Typically such facts are pushed aside in order to promote the usual anti-Western sentiment that defines the post-modern progressive movement: Catholicism worse than anything, then Christianity in general, then any pre-progressive Western tradition or moral viewpoint. Folks often miss the brutal oppression Catholics suffered, or the discrimination they encountered upon entering the United States. Certainly they miss the multiple times in which the Catholic world was threatened by foreign invaders. So imperfect as the story might be, at least it\u2019s mentioned.
