Is kicked around by Dale Price<\/a>, in response to a rather hefty analysis<\/a> of Amoris Laetitia<\/em> in light of previous teachings on the subject. \u00a0Religion isn\u2019t easy. \u00a0Personally, sometimes I wish I wasn\u2019t a believer. \u00a0Life is so much easier when you get to pick and choose. \u00a0Religion demands a final answer to \u2018who do you say I am.\u2019 \u00a0And then, of course, you\u2019re supposed to live the answer. \u00a0Not that we remain static. \u00a0The world changes, knowledge changes, times change. \u00a0Just look at the rebounding popularity in human slavery nowadays<\/a>. \u00a0Back when I was a tyke, we thought slavery was something like butter churns or patriotism \u2013 they all went out with those old timers who weren\u2019t awesome like we are.<\/p>\n

And yet, it\u2019s back \u2013 assuming it ever went away. So are many other things. \u00a0Some new, some old and repackaged, some the result of discoveries or forgetfulness. \u00a0But like all periods in history, the world is different than it was, and somehow the faithful need to remain on firm ground while being able to speak to the needs of the latest generations. \u00a0Good luck finding the flawless formula with that one.<\/p>\n

Which is what the links above touch on. \u00a0For some, the developments and changes in perspective and priorities that Pope Francis has demonstrated are met with \u2018about time!\u2019 \u00a0 For others, it\u2019s sackcloth and ashes. \u00a0And yet for others, there are no changes, just good old Catholic teaching the way it always should have been taught. \u00a0Most, of course, don\u2019t have time for details, what with working two or three jobs in order to keep up with our improving economic fortunes. \u00a0You decide. \u00a0Read the links. \u00a0If nothing else, they\u2019re food for thought.<\/p>\n
