Or not. \u00a0Over here<\/a>, the Washington Post draws links between the Louisiana floods we\u2019ve not heard much about and what we should think about Global Warming. \u00a0 Over here<\/a>, the always enjoyable Michael Flynn reminds us that most of these weather catastrophes we hear about have happened before. \u00a0Sometimes far worse than we\u2019re seeing now.<\/p>\n

One little trick I\u2019ve caught is the tendency meteorologists have of sliding \u2018historic\u2019 in when what they mean is \u2018as bad as really bad times in the past\u2019, instead of \u2018the worst in history.\u2019 \u00a0This goes along with that trend of weather reporters who say\u00a0we are at \u2018near\u2019 record temperatures. \u00a0If you think about it, being near record temperature doesn\u2019t mean any more than almost winning a race.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong. \u00a0As I\u2019ve said before,\u00a0I absolutely accept the reality of climate change. \u00a0Whenever I don\u2019t see glaciers outside my windows, I\u2019m reminded that the climate changes. \u00a0I just realize that climate studies, like anything under the sun, are able to be used for purposes that have little to do with science.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
