Courtesy of Ross Douthat<\/a>. \u00a0Mr. Douthat already penned a case against Hillary Clinton. \u00a0From a traditional believer\u2019s POV, the concerns about a Hillary presidency are pretty clear. \u00a0For those who aren\u2019t necessarily conservative, but who worry about the growing notion that our corporate, political and media institutions\u00a0are one big, happy family that spends most of its time passing money back and forth, a Clinton presidency probably won\u2019t inspire much hope. \u00a0Because of this, some people are understandably looking for alternatives. \u00a0And in the real world of American politics, the only viable option to Clinton\u2019s presidential machine is Trump.<\/p>\n

So that is the focus here, especially for those who aren\u2019t only concerned about Trump from a moral, Christian viewpoint. \u00a0Those who set all of Trump\u2019s moral failings aside for the important issues are in the unenviable position of doing what they rightly criticized supporters of Bill Clinton for doing in the late 90s. \u00a0If you imagine you\u00a0will renounce Trump the man, deplore everything he says about others, but throw your support behind him nonetheless due to the inevitable results of a Clinton presidency, then you should read this piece.<\/p>\n

Douthat dodges the more inflamed and hysterical predilections, as well as the most vitriolic insults aimed at Trump. \u00a0After all, as many have said, these things aren\u2019t new. \u00a0Since I started paying attention to politics, Republicans and their candidates have always been portrayed as warmongers, hate mongers, bigots, homophobes, sexists, racists, corporate shills and imperialists just itching to nuke the world. \u00a0If people say Trump could nuke everyone, they said the same about Reagan. \u00a0Hollywood even went so far as producing a big budget made for TV movie based on the logical consequences of Reagan\u2019s policies. \u00a0And yet, not to spoil the story, Reagan didn\u2019t nuke the world and we didn\u2019t all die. \u00a0So for those who look back and say \u2018we\u2019ve heard all the insults and criticisms before\u2019, this is also worth reading.<\/p>\n

And if you\u2019re sure that only Trump can stop the abortion crisis in our nation, and it\u2019s his presidency that can turn things around through the SCOTUS, then read Ross\u2019s piece from today\u2019s NYT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not saying vote Hillary. \u00a0And I know that on November 9th, one of these two candidates, who can only argue that they are less rotten than the other candidate, will be our president. \u00a0It should reflect poorly on us as a nation that it\u2019s come to this. \u00a0Perhaps between now and 2020 we can learn our lessons.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
