Here<\/a>. \u00a0I know, there is some truth to what it says. \u00a0To a point. \u00a0The problem is, it\u2019s just as true in slick, suburban secular settings as well. \u00a0Most of the racism, bigotry, and misogyny\u00a0I experienced in college came from well to do, non-religious, left leaning, Reagan hating college students. And not all of them white. \u00a0I have seen plenty of people of all religious (and non-religious) stripes act this way. \u00a0Sure, some groups might be statistically more likely than others to behave this way or that. \u00a0But all groups have their share of bad apples.<\/p>\nWhat this article does is dig its feet in and basically say the Democrats shouldn\u2019t bother reaching\u00a0out to those losers. \u00a0Judging people based on religion or race is a wonderful thing. \u00a0Just make sure it\u2019s the right ones.<\/p>\n
The author pulls the old \u2018I was one of them once\u2019 card, which is always effective. \u00a0Throughout the ages, \u2018I was one of them\u2019 \u00a0has been used more than once, and it\u2019s a powerful weapon.<\/p>\n
Problem is, I was too. \u00a0At least I was surrounded by those who fit the description. \u00a0And I\u2019ve been\u00a0in opposite settings: non religious, liberal, multi-cultural. \u00a0I learned something. \u00a0People are people. \u00a0There were as many racists without white\u00a0skin and misogynists\u00a0who didn\u2019t vote GOP in my college and young adult days as there were growing up in a WASP fundamentalist environment. \u00a0Over the years, I\u2019ve seen nothing in actual day to day living to change that observation.<\/p>\n
And yet, this article is hardly unique. \u00a0From casual conversation to social media and news round tables, I keep hearing this. Or at least variations\u00a0of this. \u00a0 It helps explain what I mean when I say there was little difference between the left and right this year. \u00a0Both seemed to have plenty in their ranks who feel that judging, loathing and dismissing people based on religion, race and national identity are a good thing. \u00a0They only disagreed about which ones.<\/p>\n
Judging from the election results, I get the feeling I\u2019m not the only one who noticed. \u00a0Read this article well Trump opponents. \u00a0It represents a glaring problem on the Left, and one that convinced millions of Americans that they could do no worse by slipping into the voting booth and voting for the guy who didn\u2019t say he hated them, no matter how deplorable he was.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
