On the other side was one of the most humiliating performances in recent memory<\/a>. \u00a0Three 3rd down conversions, five earned 1st downs? \u00a0For the entire game! \u00a0The players deserve some blame, as they always do. \u00a0But it was the coaching that made the difference. \u00a0Watching USC and Penn State (or almost any other team), you saw play calling that made sense. \u00a0Not calling the same play over and over and over again, even though it never \u2013 Never! \u2013 worked. \u00a0Was the Offensive staff even paying attention? \u00a0The Fiesta Bowl wasn\u2019t some freakish surprise. \u00a0Sadly, it was a long time coming.<\/p>\nBut the Rose Bowl? \u00a0The Granddaddy of the all? \u00a0Sure, we wanted Penn State to win, but that was a game where there wasn\u2019t really a loser. \u00a0Both teams played to the end; both USC and Penn State deserve accolades. \u00a0It\u2019s just that USC made that last field goal and scored the win. \u00a0Penn State obviously should have played Clemson this year. \u00a0In the future, OSU will need to win 15 out of 10 games before the committee will consider it for a place in the playoffs. \u00a0But Penn State? USC? \u00a0If they didn\u2019t\u00a0earn anything for next year, they more than earned their place in the football history books. \u00a0Well done everyone!
