I was saddened to hear of Bill Paxton\u2019s death<\/a>. \u00a0I grew up with Mr. Paxton. \u00a0Like most, my earliest encounter was with his small, but memorable, role in James Cameron\u2019s Terminator<\/em>. \u00a0Though without realizing it, I had seen him in the strange video for\u00a0Fish Heads<\/em>\u00a0years earlier.<\/p>\n

It was as the ever complaining, but ultimately valiant, Private Hudson in Cameron\u2019s Aliens<\/em> that Paxton first caught the public\u2019s attention. \u00a0The phrase \u2018Game over man, game over!\u2019 was a favorite quote that year. \u00a0IIRC, it even earned a place in an SNL skit at the time.<\/p>\n

By the 90s, Paxton came into his own, often playing support in commendable box office hits like Apollo 13<\/em> and Cameron\u2019s two misses and a hit Titanic<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In some ways, he was one of those \u2018always a bride\u2019s maid, never a bride\u2019 actors. \u00a0His films often did better with critics. \u00a0My personal favorite was his turn as Dale Dixon in One False Move<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, it\u2019s always rough to hear of the unexpected passing of someone. \u00a0Especially one of those figures who was always \u2018there\u2019, even if not in the spotlight. \u00a0May God give peace and strength to his loved ones during this traumatic time. \u00a0Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
