There is some truth to that<\/a>.\u00a0 I\u2019m no economist, and I hesitate to wade too deeply into issues I\u2019m not schooled in, or can\u2019t at least intelligently observe.\u00a0 I can tell our economy isn\u2019t doing well.\u00a0 I can also tell that the Free Market doesn\u2019t seem to solve all the problems it\u2019s supposed to solve.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

But socialism as the economic theory of Jesus also seems to overstate the case.\u00a0 Like most topics today with a college educated generation with access to the Internet, it\u2019s tough pinning things down on the subject.\u00a0 After all, many Bernie or Obama supporters will mock critics who accuse them of being socialist like\u00a0Europe, stating that technically Europe is not\u00a0socialist in the strictest sense of the word.\u00a0 And yet, when backing Obama or Sanders, they will inevitably point to Europe as a glowing example for how awesome things are.\u00a0 They usually don\u2019t point to other, non-Western socialist countries.\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t know why.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Well, those European countries aren\u2019t necessarily paradise.\u00a0 Anyone paying half attention to the problems in Europe knows that the policies of Europe are not sure wins.\u00a0 In fact, it\u2019s a train wreck.\u00a0 And not just because there are economic problems.\u00a0 Europe is literally aborting itself out of existence.\u00a0 I wonder if the same suicidal tendencies that a society appears to demand in order to embrace non-heterosexual normality are also the ones needed to embrace a European style democratic socialism.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

I just know that Europe seems no better than America, and many issues we have here are at least as bad there, or worse.\u00a0\u00a0There are differences of course.\u00a0 And I\u2019m the first to say that mixing freedom and godlessness, as John Adams predicted, can be quite catastrophic in its own right.\u00a0 Our disastrously built house is proof of that.\u00a0 But don\u2019t tell me that the only hope is to embrace an approach that appears no better in results, as well as in its core values, than the worse of what we have here in the US.\u00a0 If you are tired of the Detroit Lions having lousy seasons, don\u2019t insist we follow the Cleveland Browns model for winning.\u00a0 And more to the point, don\u2019t tell me I don\u2019t love Jesus if I\u2019m not following the Browns model for football greatness.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

NOTE<\/strong>: I know that John Adams said more than this about the role of religion and Christianity in the our new nation than a single quote.\u00a0 Like most things, his views were more complicated than modern polemics allows.\u00a0 Especially those silly atheist polemics that take select quotes as if to say \u201cSee! Atheist Country!\u201d\u00a0 Fact is, Adams, like most of the Founding Fathers, assumed a relatively religious nation with people from a\u00a0somewhat similar moral and religious framework \u2013 give or take. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
