And sad<\/a>. \u00a0I\u2019ve said if you look at the top movies of the last decade, and compare it to the top movies of other decades, it\u2019s telling. \u00a0The 70s contained\u00a0probably one of the most eclectic expressions of cinematic invention in history. \u00a0The top movie of 1970 was Love Story<\/em>, the top movie of 79 was Kramer vs. Kramer<\/em>. \u00a0In between was Fiddler on the Roof, The Godfather, The Exorcist, The Towering Inferno, Jaws, Rocky, Star wars<\/em>, and Grease<\/em>, \u00a0Even the 80s, the decade after Jaws<\/em> ushered in the Summer Blockbuster, had quite a variety.<\/p>\n

But I notice variety is not the strong suit in the entertainment industry today. \u00a0Not that it isn\u2019t there. But it seems the exception rather than the rule.\u00a0 The major producers of entertainment, to my eyes, seem to have formula down to a conveyor belt, and despite it all, we continue to buy.<\/p>\n

As an extra in honor of May 4 (which had to be explained to me a few years ago by my boys), here\u2019s a little snippet<\/a> I did reflecting on the different feels of Star Wars<\/em> over the years.<\/p>\n
