If there wasn\u2019t collusion between Trump and Russia, then likely it was the timing.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it, it took United Airlines to become more unpopular than Comey. \u00a0Over the last year, almost 100% of our government has, at one point or another, piled on the Bash Comey bandwagon.\u00a0 He\u2019s been accused by both sides of compromising the FBI, compromising trust in the FBI, overstepping\u00a0his role, and basically hurting his ability to lead this or any other investigation. \u00a0This isn\u2019t George Martin deciding to fire Paul McCartney in 1967. \u00a0Or Phil Jackson suddenly firing Jordan in 1996. \u00a0This was a man with serious damage to his reputation, who almost everyone had to know was\u00a0living on borrowed time.<\/p>\n

So if Trump is guilty of collusion with Russia\u00a0\u2013 which isn\u2019t the hardest thing in the world to believe \u2013 he obviously canned Comey\u00a0in order to hamstring\u00a0the investigation. \u00a0Hopefully we will find out and justice (and impeachment or more) will be done.<\/p>\n

If not, and it turns out there wasn\u2019t collusion, then the timing makes sense. \u00a0Within a week,\u00a0Hillary blamed Comey by name<\/a>\u00a0as a reason for losing the election, Democrats\u00a0had already criticized him with some calling\u00a0for his removal<\/a>, the much anticipated Yates\/Clapper testimony laid an egg<\/a>, \u00a0and the previous day was spent with headlines exploding all over about Comey\u2019s false testimony: CNN<\/a>,\u00a0 Daily Kos<\/a>,\u00a0 Axios<\/a>,\u00a0 The Telegraph<\/a>,\u00a0 The Week<\/a>,\u00a0 USA Today<\/a>,\u00a0 NYT<\/a>,\u00a0 Pro Publica<\/a>\u00a0(to name a few from a variety of sources in a single day).<\/p>\n

What better time to fire him?<\/p>\n

The only thing that\u2019s surprising\u00a0is the backlash from people who seem to have forgotten the last 10\u00a0months and were shocked to discover there were problems with Comey in the first place.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
