{"id":211,"date":"2013-03-03T05:00:24","date_gmt":"2013-03-03T10:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/dailyreflections\/?p=211"},"modified":"2013-02-20T11:12:33","modified_gmt":"2013-02-20T16:12:33","slug":"a-healthy-helping-of-healing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/dailyreflections\/2013\/03\/a-healthy-helping-of-healing\/","title":{"rendered":"Mar. 3: A Healthy Helping of Healing"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>Gilbert McClure, a retired Kansas cattle rancher, lists his recently deceased son John\u2019s best qualities: integrity, sincerity, honesty.\u00a0 That last one digs deep into his sorrow.\u00a0 You see, John took his own life, and admitting that is heartbreaking.<\/p>\n<p>His parents didn\u2019t see his death coming; his personality was the opposite of his actions.\u00a0 John was a chef whose popular restaurant was always full.\u00a0 But as his mother Marilyn told <em>The Kansas City Star<\/em>, \u201cYou have to face the truth so you can start the healing.\u00a0 When you say suicide, invariably, someone else will open up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, his parents are using their son\u2019s death for suicide prevention.
