An 80-year-old man was planting a peach tree when his neighbor asked him, \u201cDo you expect to eat peaches from that tree?\u201d<\/p>\n
The elderly gentleman rested on his spade and answered, \u201cNo.\u00a0 At my age I probably won\u2019t.\u00a0 But all my life I\u2019ve enjoyed peaches\u2014never from a tree I planted myself.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t have had peaches if other men hadn\u2019t done what I\u2019m doing now.\u00a0 I\u2019m just trying to pay back the other fellows who planted trees for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Those who take a \u201cwhat\u2019s in it for me\u201d attitude short-change themselves and everyone else too.\u00a0 It\u2019s far better to recognize that mankind forms a single family, with God as its Father.<\/p>\n
We all need to work where and when we can in order to forge the strong bonds of loving service that will knit this family together in grateful praise of its maker.<\/p>\n
