So I just made my to do list, and it\u2019s length is a little intimidating! Still I\u2019m back on track. I\u2019m really excited because I entered my very first art exibition. Entries for the Greater Lansing Recycled Art Exhibition were due last friday, so most of my free time last week was spent getting that together. I\u2019ve never written an Artists Resume before, and mine was pretty thin. Still, just entering was a great learning experience, so I\u2019m happy. I\u2019ll find out if I get into the exhibition later this month. I entered my raven, along with 2 block prints that I printed with soy ink on pages from my Grandfather\u2019s Machinist\u2019s Handbook.<\/p>\n

The Creative Every Day Challeng<\/a>e Theme for the month is Stories<\/a>. So much of what I do is about stories. A lot of my work is inspired by myths, like my Raven, or fairy tales and children\u2019s stories. When one of my friends saw my Grasshopper print, she said it reminded her of a Cricket in Times Square<\/u>. Sometimes I think I\u2019m still just a 32 year old kid. I loved this photo I took above, it seems like a window into another world, like Alice down the rabbit hole. It\u2019s actually from my husband pelting our window with snow and making a hole in it to make faces and make my daughter laugh. The light was great though, so mom wandered over with her camera and took a couple of shots. \ud83d\ude42 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

I loved so many children\u2019s stories as a kid. Anything written by Beatrix Potter was a favorite, The Secret Garden<\/u>, Little Women<\/u>, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe<\/u>, Alice in Wonderland<\/u> and of course, I read the original Grimm fairy tales and Anderson\u2019s as well. I\u2019m starting to see a pattern here. My obsession with the odd and the old is starting to make sense now. If anyone cares to answer, I\u2019d love to know: what books inspire your creativity?<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
