Filming for the Interpreter Foundation\u2019s new \u201cSix Days in August\u201d movie project has been underway in Canada since Monday morning. \u00a0That\u2019s both exciting and, well, worrying. \u00a0If you feel any inclination to include our film crew and our actors in your prayers, I won\u2019t oppose you in that.<\/p>\n

So far, I\u2019m told, things are going well.<\/p>\n

He is not as committed to free-market libertarian-inclined economics as I am, nor as conservative as I am on many other issues, but \u2014 now that he\u2019s announced that he\u2019ll be bowing out of elective politics \u2014 I can openly say that I\u2019ve been proud to have Mitt Romney as one of my senators. \u00a0(I\u2019ll pass over in silence the fact that, prior to entering the Senate, he wrote a brief Easter message<\/a> for Interpreter<\/em>.) \u00a0He is an intelligent, principled man, and he has represented my faith and my adopted home state well, both politically and beyond politics. \u00a0I\u2019m one of an apparently unpopular breed of conservatives who believe that conservatism includes but transcends issues of public policy, and that personal character is of fundamental importance in our public leaders \u2014 not only in the days of Bill Clinton but today, as well.<\/p>\n

I began to hear really positive things about Senator Romney long before he sought political office or stepped forward to save the 2002 Winter Olympics. \u00a0I heard remarkable things about him \u2014 often quite specific things \u2014 from people who knew who him well and personally and who spoke of him with what struck me almost as awe and reverence.<\/p>\n
